We are privileged to host Hanshi Patrick McCarthy 9th Dan, during his brief visit to the states for a GKC Global exclusive Seminar. This is his only stop in California during his 2017 North American Tour. Sensei Paul and Sensei Michelle had the unique opportunity of first meeting the knowledgeable and exuberant Hanshi McCarthy in Austraila, and later trained with him here in California. We highly recommend Martial artists from all backgrounds to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Few Western karate instructors have been as widely recognized for their study and contributions as has Sensei Patrick McCarthy . KU Kata application practices have lead the way in understanding kata. He is a noted author, historian and authority of Okinawan Karate and like his teachers; he is truly an encyclopaedia of karate history and techniques. If I may quote Hokama Tetsuhiro, “I am fascinated by both Mr. McCarthy’s physical prowess and scholarly pursuits:” a sentiment echoed by people all over the world.
His recent and ancient historical perspectives are accurate, insightful, and true. His techiniques are similarly relevant and completely effective. I like to train with him at least once a year. He is a thoroughly enjoyable person, an unrivaled teacher, and an excellent martial artist admired by excellent martial artists - Joe Glavin.
